Why SO many PBP posts being deleted?

That's not a great title but basically I have noticed that there are sooooo many posts on various threads from different posters which have been deleted recently, with the message that this is a PBP. There have always been posts which are deleted for being abusive or inflammatory or whatever on specific threads but these posts seem to pop up in lots of places and have been responded to by people, often the OP, in a sensible fashion which suggests that they are relatively "normal" posts. What's going on? Why are people doing this? It is making a nonsense of some threads.

Following as it's been annoying me!

I've been on a thread about multi vitamins. My first post was hidden "until MNHQ have a look" and my 2nd post has still not been published.
The only thing I can think of is a recommended a specific brand/retailer.

That might be part of it but I don't think that explains it all - I've just been on a thread where someone was speaking about cutting her hair and a poster recommended hair g u m m i e s (just in case!) and the post is still there.

I have noticed this too. Loads of PBPs and they seem to be saying reasonable things - other people quote them and respond agreeing so it doesn't sound like they're trolling.

I've also noticed a considerable increase in the number of first replies to threads being deleted too, usually for breaking talk guidelines in some way, but I have no idea what they said or why they've been deleted, as it has already happened by the time I read the thread.

The point is (or the way MNHQ see it anyway) they're banned so they shouldn't be here, no matter what they're posting.

I agree with the OP though, that it makes a nonsense of threads when too many posts are deleted.

It's as though HQ are treating the symptoms rather than the cause.

It means 'previously banned poster'.

I’m not sure why though - this is an adult site and we talk about drugs on plenty of threads. There’s one I’m on at the moment about magic mushrooms. Will see if this post disappears now!

I could be wrong, but I don't think it's the drugs talk that's the issue. I think it stems from a period where the site was being spammed by foreign sellers apparently offering the aforementioned g u m m i e s
