Why doesn't the system warn you BEFORE you write your post?!

I had very brief window yesterday, so I was posting as fast as I could. I'd only done maybe 4 or 5, then I got one post all written, but when I clicked to post, I had a prissy pop-up telling me telling me I'd posted too many.

  1. Why doesn't it warn you before you waste the time writing?
  2. How are we supposed to guess what constitutes too many?
  3. How are we supposed to guess how long we have to wait to continue?

I’ve never even heard of this.

I'm not sure but I think the 'too many posts' thing is to foil bots, and if the parameters were published they could easily avoid the defence.

Ive been on threads where the whole point was to post as much as you can for various challenges and not had that happen, unless this is a fairly recent thing they’ve put into place

Hi OP

We're sorry this happened.

This should be quite a rare occurrence for Mumsnet users. As another post mentioned above, it's a spam filter that deters multiple spam posts. We'll discuss your feedback in the office but please let us know if it happens again.
