Not sure why my post was deleted....

Hi there. I posted on a conversation that I didn't think the post was genuine and pointed out a factual error. I wasn't rude. My post was removed. As the thread has continued more and more people are not finding it genuine. Could someone explain why my post was removed? I posted inteniontally so that others would be encouraged to think critically about it... and so they would not be taken in. I also didn't state categorically that it wasn't genuine, just expressed my doubts and gave the main reason for that. Doesn't seem like a good idea for posts like mine to be removed.....

I guess it's because if you think someone is making stuff up then you are supposed to report the post to HQ to let them look at it?

Troll hunting is against MN guidelines.

PipMumsnet · 12/09/2024 18:21

Hi OP,
We will email you off the boards. But in essence: "Our guidelines ask MNers not to troll hunt on the talk boards but to report it to MNHQ via the report button instead. We understand the urge to warn others on the thread, but when users are publicly accused of being trolls it can be very upsetting if they’re genuine - especially if they really need support and advice, while actual trolls just love all the added attention it brings."

Hi all. Yup, didn't even know troll hunting was a thing, the post just felt off to me (in a AI way)! I now know troll hunting exists and all this makes sense. Thanks for taking the time to reply.
