Threads shared on Facebook

Just wondering why a thread might be posted by Mumsnet on Facebook when the OP has clearly said at the outset that they don’t want the thread to end up on Facebook and when it’s a sensitive topic (bereavement-related)?

Does MN not take into account poster’s wishes or sensitivity of topic? While the thread is in the public domain already, Facebook is a different kind of discussion space, with a different tone and not necessarily somewhere where posters would have chosen to elicit views on a sensitive issue.

We generally steer clear of sharing threads which are sensitive (or which the OP has asked us not to share). Unfortunately the one this morning somehow slipped through the net. As soon as we were alerted to this error we removed the thread and removed any links on social media.

We've apologised to the OP and will do everything we can to make sure this doesn't happen again.
