In light of all those cough medicines being withdrawn - we've been asked for Mumsnet's top tips for coping with/helping a child with a cough

Can think of

Propping bed up with books to make it easier to breathe

Humidifiers

Lemon and honey...

Anyone got any more... as ever need the info asap!

as well as propping up cot with books, we've added an adult pillow under the top end of the mattress which has helped a lot more (for the first part of the night, until she starts wriggling round the cot!)

for croupy cough in cold weather, open the bedroom window wide and stand at it with dd in arms (not quite as far out as Michael Jackson did ) - the sudden change in temperature helps

if all else fails, sit up all night with them in your arms!

jelly cubes - they think it is a treat, takes their mind of coughing, nice and 'slippery' for throat. Keep it in cupboard in a number of flavours for night time coughs when I cannot stand the coughing any more.
