Please please Mumsnet csn you get rid of this creepy A.I advert which is everywhere. Its at the top of the page and in between every single post on my phone. Also features heavily on desktop to the extent i am almost closing my eyes in horror

Hi OP

This is an ad choices advert delivered by google (rather than something we're partnering with in-house).

Because these are tailored to individual users, they are not easy for us to replicate.

If you see it again, please can you click on the advert and share the URL of the page it takes you to? This will help us locate it.

OP, I'm glad you raised this. I've been seeing that advert a lot on this site. It's very 'uncanny valley'. Slightly worried that she is going to start popping up in other places too...

Gatekeeper · 11/07/2024 19:07

@LilyMumsnet link above. Seems like this is freaking out a LOT of people

Yup freaking me out too!

Read a thread about the advert and she popped up 3 times.

Definitely giving those lenses a miss!

It’s a horrible picture and it’s everywhere!

Gatekeeper · 12/07/2024 18:32

@LilyMumsnet

Any progress with this as it is still everywhere

Hi OP

Thanks so much for the link - we haven't got any updates yet but we'll keep you posted.

Yes I am seeing this ad too and thought just the same - so clearly AI. I have my Google settings so as not to track my searches and so it just shows standardised rather than personalised ads.

Very weird and creepy.

Morning, everyone. We've had a further look behind the scenes and the ad is a legitimate ad, so while we can see it might not be everyone's favourite, there's nothing there that should cause any concern. Hope that puts minds at rest. Do let us know if you have any further questions.

legitimate advert it might be but it is everywhere on the page. As a banner and several times in between posts- over and over. Not just for me but for many people. I can't believe there is nothing you can do to restrict or block it

It's nasty ads like this that force people to install ad blockers, so they lose MN money in the longer term.
