How do I post anonymously?

I'd like to start a thread without using my normal username. I can't see how to but I've seen some from 'anonymous user'

You can't post anonymously, but you can namechange by going into your settings.

Go into Settings and you'll see the option to change your name.

Anonymoususer will be the user name, just change yours to anonymoususernumber2 or actually any combination of letters/numbers not already used

As the others have helpfully said, yes, you're able to start a new thread with a different username. Just go to Settings and your account page - https://www.mumsnet.com/settings/account, type in a new name and hit the Save button. That name will then be registered to your account and you can use either name for future posts.
