Site problems today

Unfortunately we suffered a hardware failure today and hence the site was offline for a while this morning. It will be a bit slow whilst it gets itself straightened out but after that all should be well.

YOU suffered? Harrumph. Self, self, self, that's all people think about ....

It's not good enough you know. I am currently counselling AdamAnt and there are many more people hiding under tables, curled up in the foetal position.
In fact, what do I see? Over there?.....is that?...yes, I think it is...It's the red cross and the salvation army.....

thank you for fixing it

You mean you don't have full hardware redundancy - warm spares etc ??? this is a critical website remember

hecate · 04/04/2008 12:26

do you think yetmoretech has been here long enough yet for us to make jokes about his hardware failure?

where can I claim back all the money I spent internet shopping this morning instead of surfing on here

Glad you are back, stuff happens with hardware, it gets old like the rest of us!

'hardware failure'

who spilt coffee in the server?

Thank you for fixing it but I agree with flatmouse. You need fault-tolerant hardware with added redundancy, belts and braces and additional rubber bands.

Thank you for letting us know what the problem was.

now you need to tell us who broke it

I think it was everybody at mumsnet towers buying stuff for the new baby over that way. They bought it all back to the office, piled it up on the servers (surely that's what those large cabinet type things are for) blocked the air flow and bang - no mumsnet.

You've not fixed it properly you know. Keeps going to a blank page (just the logo at the top) and I have to click refresh to get the posts up.
Get back to it.

Ditto.

But OTOH my house is now the cleanest it has been for ages. And ds is not as neglected as normally is. I think he has now realised that mummy's face isn't a big square silver thing (i.e. the back of the laptop screen)

hecate I have that too but I don't think it has just started. I've also noticed it with other sites, wondering if it's a browser thing. Are you using IE7?

Hardware failure? There IS a pharmacuetical remedy available these days.
Or just pop into dadsnet for some advice....

PMSL MetallicCP!!!!

I hadn't noticed as was out having a RL this morning! Coffee with friends and then hairdressers thank you.

Although it's just as well as is entirely the wrong time of the month for something like that to happen to me. I may have had to do something drastic.

Yes, it is happening more on MN, you're right.
I think it's down to the speed issues.

Report
MetallicCerisePan · 04/04/2008 13:09

yes, it was the "getting itself straightened out" that gave the real clue away..
