I don’t know if this has been raised before or not but I’ve just replied to a thread in S&B and my mentions of John Lewis and M&S turned to links.

It’s not a huge thing in the scheme of things but personally I’d never link to these brands and it feels a bit weird to have done so without knowing.

How many other brands are on the list for automatic links?

I’ve found it intensely annoying.

Didn’t know it was happening with more than one store - which I found myself forced to promote against my will.

If MNHQ is determined on this there ought to be some warning at the top of boards - like S&B - where posters might be mentioning the relevant stores / brands.

Thanks for starting this thread OP. I also utterly hate this new development and it's totally inappropriate to effectively force us to be promoting brands that we may actually be being grumpy about.

I hope this is just a trial that can be halted quickly rather than a long term contract to promote brands for £££.

As soon as I saw this horrible auto-edit I went back into my post and cut out the brand name. I will start referring to Marcs and Sponsors if I have to name them but I hope the autoedit goes quickly.

Yes let's rename them all.
I nominate Spinks and Monsters, and John Spewlis.Grin

Hi there @Jins (and others). Thanks for getting in touch. This is a feature we have been testing out, so it's useful to have feedback. We will pass your thoughts about it upwards.

Thanks @HebeMumsnet.

DS1 has been laughing his head off at the idea that I’d inadvertently recommended M&S because in all honestly I rarely go there - even for food - and I’ve ebayed any gift vouchers I’ve been given 🤣

Could there be a warning as suggested by @KomproMatilda?
