Too many edits?

saraclara · 07/05/2024 13:36

I'm a bit too casual with Swype and often discover that I've made a typo, or an autocorrect has sneaked in. So I quickly edit, save carry on.

I just tried to edit such a post and it wouldn't submit. A little pop up appeared to say that I've made too many edits.

There's a limit then? Is everyone going to have to put up with my errors? How does this work?

Hi OP

Could you share your post with us? The one that was limited to the amount of edits. We can take a look to see what's happened here.

saraclara · 07/05/2024 16:58

Thanks lily. But I've posted a fair bit today and I can't be sure which one it was. But I'll try to remember.

where is the edit button??? I often make typos as I type fast, but thought there is no way to edit. Thanks.

saraclara · 07/05/2024 20:34

Sorry Lily. I really can't remember which post it was. But I'm going to try to edit this post and see if it happens again.

ETA nothing in particular and then press update

ETA that it worked that time

So yes. A mystery. When it happened earlier today the message was on a very shallow pink background at the bottom of my screen

Hi @saraclara . We'll have a think and see if we can work out what happened there but in the meantime, if it happens again could you send us a link to the post and that might help us spot what's going on? Thank you!

fungipie · 08/05/2024 10:48

Again, may I ask where the edit button is? Thanks.

HebeMumsnet · 08/05/2024 10:50

Hi there @fungipie . Here's how the edit button works

  • User posts
  • User is given a 5 minute window to edit the post (button appears on the post under the three dots top right). It is possible to edit more than once in that time period.
  • After that 5 minute window is over the button is no longer available
  • When a user clicks in to the see the edit they will see the original post at the bottom and each version of the post above with the most recent changes at the top.
