There's a general air on MN that the posters are middle earners and they look down on benefit claimants and spread out dated misinformation about them.
It comes from Ignorant Rage.
They believe the lies media spreads and it doesn't matter how often you prove them wrong, highlight how they're wrong or supply facts and figures that show they're wrong.
They believe they pay tons of tax to 'scroungers'
You can pit out that they actually pay about £10 total a year to the unemployed, they won't believe you.
They believe there's millions that have never worked.
You point out that there's fewer than 500k that have been unemployed for longer than 12 months, they ignore that and believe what Tory spin tells them to believe.
They believe that benefits should be scrapped. So you point out that without benefits, nurseries, care homes, coffee shops, supermarkets etc would all have to double or triple what they charge and they ignore that.
On and on and on it goes.
They're like flat earthers. The facts don't align with the preconceptions so the facts are hand waved away. They'll repeatedly spout utter nonsense to the point t it's useless replying, so you stop replying and they think they won and they're right.
Ignorant Rage.. getting mad about shit you don't actually understand.
I reported a thread earlier, as I've done may times before.
Mumsnet like the benefit bashing threads, it gets the imbeciles frothing at the poor which drives engagement with the site.
What middle people should do:
Stop looking down and asking why the poorest of society have so much.
Start looking up, asking why those above them are stopping them getting more.
Oh and Mumsnet - They should move all benefit threads to a Benefit specific board that doesn't show up in active. Remove them from Chat and AIBU etc.
