Mumsnet on Facebook feed

Just wanted to mention people's anonymity and user names etc- last few weeks I'm getting posts in my Facebook feed of popular threads and I've not 'liked' mumsnet on FB- so other Random folk must be getting this too who aren't necessarily on mumsnet. Hence if you don't want anyone and his mother realising it's your post thought I would mention that if you 'start 'a thread (it's just initial post that's on FB, not any comments ) to be careful if your username or detail in your initial post are identifying.

Thanks, @Crikeyalmighty, it's always good to remind people of this.

When posting, you should bear in mind that any personally identifying details you include in the text or pictures you post could be seen by anyone.

Here's what we say in our Talk Guidelines:

In all your posts across Mumsnet and in choosing your username, you should be mindful about the possibility that information you choose to disclose could lead to someone working out who you are in ‘real life’. For example, anything that references your real life name, your children’s real names, where you live or your date of birth could make it easy for someone to work out who you are.

Although it can feel like you're sitting around a table having a cosy chat with your mates, Mumsnet is an open site, and that means it's searchable on Google and legally linkable to – and quotable by – all and sundry. The upside of being an open forum is a higher volume of users, which in turn means Mumsnet is available for free 24/7 to anyone who needs advice. But it's worth taking care with identifying information and making judicious use of the name-change facility occasionally, even if it's just a small tweak.

@DawnMumsnet no problem- it kind of suprised me when I first saw them and I thought it best to just remind folks who may not have seen these FB posts - or are relatively new to the site
