Big online gambling advert in this thread, presumably because the word gamble is in the thread title. Really insensitive, given the circumstances. Is there anything you can do to prevent this kind of thing?

I just see a burberry advert. AFAIK the ads are tailored to your own browsing experience/cookies. So if YOU have been reading up on gambling you will see ads for it. I'm currently seeing adverts for tents because I've been looking for a new one.

That's how I understand it anyway. Delete your browsing history and cookies and see if it disappears.

Hi @Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g . Thanks for getting in touch. We've actually just deleted that thread but we'll look into this.

We suspect it is as DatingDinosaur describes and, while we can refuse certain ads on sensitive boards, it's harder to do so on AIBU and other 'more general' boards, but we'll have a think about whether we can do anything more about this.

Thanks, @HebeMumsnet. I can confirm I've never read up on gambling and the only gambling I've ever done is buy a tombola ticket at the school fair! So that ad can only have been personalised for me based on the thread title and content.
