You've been thanked emails

Can someone please tell me how to block these infuriating 'you've been thanked' emails?! I only use Mumsnet on my phone and have looked at settings but can't see anything obvious.

So annoying aren’t they!

On the email there’s a bit that says “Don’t want to receive these emails?” And a link underneath to Update your preferences.

I'm so sorry, I'm chuckling here. I thanked you because i would also like to know but didn't want to post about it. The as i went on to scroll other things I realised my thanking you would trigger an annoying email! Anyway, here's hoping we get an answer soon!

If you click the link on the email it takes you straight to the email preferences - you can either turn off all emails or just specific ones.

I had an email yesterday telling me I had been thanked for a post from last year. I couldn't even remember it. I thought maybe the thread had been reignited, but no, the last contribution was in October 2023😅

It's weird but I click thanks when I agree. That would be a more sensible option.

Would much prefer a ‘Like’ option than a ‘thanks’ Option

I like getting the occasional Thanks, it feels a lot nicer than being slagged off Grin

Is this a stealth boast? 😏

God im getting these virtually every day, im sure my comments arent that monumental!
Plus im getting them for the song title thread i post on, no way is anyone thanking anyone on that, it must be a blip!

I seem to be getting thanked for just commenting on a thread - not for offering any amazing support or advice 🙄.

How do you thank someone on the app?

Report
Redshoeblueshoe · 22/03/2024 20:39

I sometimes thank people who say exactly what I'm thinking. I know I've been thanked because I've seen them, but I don't get any emails. So however awful I am people can @ me, and I'll never know

I had some if those and had no idea why. Cant see where you actually thank people either .

Hi OP,

Please could you go to your talk settings, click on notifications and then email notifications? You will see the option to unsubscribe from these emails. The thanked option is at the bottom of the list.

Here's a quick link: https://www.mumsnet.com/settings/notifications?view=email

It’s people being sarcastic. Just thank them back.

The thanks function is very annoying - it’s just used by trolls

Screenshots attached - open annoying email, scroll down to find link, follow link to email preferences, turn off all/some annoying emails, save settings. Sorted! 😂

Are people genuinely thanking the poster or being sarcastic? That was my first thought.

Report
Rainydayinlondon · 23/03/2024 10:34

And on a separate point, how do you reply to a poster without quoting their entire post? I’ve seen people just putting eg @xyz

@Hedgerow2 you will need to adjust your settings on the desktop or mobile site. Let us know if any issues.

@Rainydayinlondon just @ ing a poster is a reply - if their notifications for this are switched on they will be alerted.

Trolls hang out on random gardening and cookery threads just so they can thank people? Saddos. 😂
