The MN ad on cervical screening- incorrect info

On this ad, which is written in NHS style and looks like an NHS web page, it says a nurse will use a speculum to open your cervix. This is wrong - the speculum opens the vagina so that they can see the cervix and take the sample. Speculums don’t open the cervix! Really bad error.

Cervical screening, why is it so important? | Mumsnet

The NHS has pledged to eliminate cervical cancer by 2040 through cervical screening and HPV vaccination. But what exactly is cervical screening?

Hi FictionalCharacter,

Thanks very much for flagging this. The page had actually been reviewed by the NHS but that line had clearly slipped through the net. We really appreciate your feedback and have edited the page accordingly.

While more than 3.4 million people came forward for their cervical screening last year, figures show that 3 in 10 didn’t take up the offer.

Their numbers might be better if they were capable of understanding, after being told multiple times, that women who have had a total hysterectomy no longer have a cervix to be screened.

Absolutely sick of getting letters telling me off about this. If you have a contact in this area, MNHQ, please pass on this feedback because mine falls on deaf ears.
