Tech! Why can't I post messages longer than a couple of paragraphs?

Every time I want to bore people with a long and rambling post (bigger than the box, so the up/down arrows become active) my computer/the site refuses and I get the "Internet Explorer cannot display the web page" message.

Why is this? Is there a dullard scan between clicking and the post appearing? And if so why does it only apply to me?

dont know what the problem is but you could try firefoxinstead

JaneMumsnet · 26/03/2008 16:09

Hmm, that's weird, I can't recreate it.

I would try clearing out your cache and restarting IE - or as Zippi suggests, try downloading www.firefox.com as an alternate browser.

Is Firefox really so much better? Why? [presses download]

GeekBoy · 26/03/2008 16:30

Cali - diehard geeks use lynx..

JaneMumsnet · 26/03/2008 16:37

Please remember that other browsers are available...

GeekBoy · 26/03/2008 17:05

oh, lynx the browser not lynx the awful antiperspirant stuff..

and LL - FF3 is even better than the current version of Firefox..

Swedes · 26/03/2008 17:08

I think MNHQ cut really really boring messages. And if you are known to be a crashing bore they have a pre-set limit on the length of all new posts.

GeekBoy · 26/03/2008 17:16

They haven't cut my posts here yet though.. [feels LL's finger hitting delete..]

I actually have Firefox on my laptop. I tried it and... it crashed before I even got to the Active Convos page.

Am now a long way from being convinced of its superiority

Will try and find my cache. Which by definition must be well hidden

(am I boring you yet?)
