I've noted more and more that some FM's post this at my posts.
🤣🤣

What does it mean, please?

Hi OP

Do you mean the laughing emoji in response to your posts?

If so, we can't really speak for what a poster means - but we'd assume it meant that something had made them laugh!

DistingusedSocialCommentator · 04/03/2024 21:03

I mean the empty square boxes as per this post. Thank you again.

OP posts:
gamerchick · 04/03/2024 21:05

What square empty boxes?

gamerchick · 04/03/2024 21:06

Just emojis.

What does this mean 🤣🤣?
EdithGrantham · 04/03/2024 21:07

It's where emojis the poster has typed aren't showing on your device

HeartandSeoul · 04/03/2024 21:08

I get that too OP (you may have to click on the photo for the full view).

What is an FM?

BIWI · 04/03/2024 21:35

I think FM = Forum Member. The OP has been asked about this on other threads, and posters have made it clear it's an unusual/unknown acronym on MN, but he/she is still using it!

LilyMumsnet · 04/03/2024 21:42

Hi OP

If you have issues with emojis not showing, please email us at [email protected] and let us know what device and browser you're using.

shoppingshamed · 04/03/2024 21:44

Faces looking like they are laughing means that someone finds something funny

Is that what you're asking?

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 04/03/2024 21:47

I get square boxes too if my phone doesn’t recognise a newer emoji. What phone / device you using?
mines an older iPhone.

pickledandpuzzled · 04/03/2024 21:48

When your device doesn’t read emoji you get little boxes. It’s funny that they copy and paste though! 🤣🤣 (that’s two laughing faces for th OP!)

LucyLaundry · 04/03/2024 21:49

It means you need a cooler phone 🤣🤣

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 04/03/2024 21:52

Saving the planet instead by keeping my v old phone! Also I can’t afford a cooler phone.

Many thanks to all and MNHQ

So, does anyone get eh emojis in colour? I don't

OP posts:
Terfosaurus · 04/03/2024 23:41

Yes emojis are in colour. Yellow to be precise.

Mine are not, they are like the blank squares I posted

However, when clicking on the emoji icon to select, they are mainly yellow and blue. but not when I post them or see them in a post/s

OP posts:
Terfosaurus · 05/03/2024 00:07

But you aren't seeing emojis in posts. You're seeing blank squares. Which aren't emojis.

DrSpartacular · 05/03/2024 00:35

Can you see the MN emojis?

Grin Easter Smile Xmas Hmm Tardis Bear

I see blank square but more often see the black and white version of the emjoi

When I go to chose an emjoi, its in clour. Its always the blank, black/white square but more often a black/white face/emoji

Incredible - In full colour - really odd. Thanks

The MN emoticons are technically different to general emojis, and predate them - they've been around since the early browser-only, computer rather than phone or tablet days. Unlike emojis they are device-agnostic so they should render the same for everyone.
