Is it just me having a glitch or has the edit button been removed?

Oooh let me post this and see.

Edited to say: No, it's still there for me although I'm on desktop.

Redglitter · 07/02/2024 23:05

Just checking 😊

SweetBirdsong · 07/02/2024 23:05

Still working for me.

SweetBirdsong · 07/02/2024 23:06

I posted a post on another page a minute ago, and just checked if the edit button came up, and it did.

Redglitter · 07/02/2024 23:06

Still working for me. Did you maybe miss the cut off time for editing

Boobettes · 07/02/2024 23:06

How long did you give it between the post and the edit OP?

I'm pretty sure you only get a certain amount of time in which to edit?

PickAChew · 07/02/2024 23:07

It's just 10 minutes.

PennySittingPretty · 07/02/2024 23:25

I didn’t know there was a time limit!
I will check now.

Well there it is!
No idea why I have never seen the time limit mentioned before.
Thanks

Is the hide a thread button gone?

Wasbedeudetetdas · 07/02/2024 23:31

There's a fairly short time limit for editing.

SweetBirdsong · 07/02/2024 23:37

PickAChew · 07/02/2024 23:07

It's just 10 minutes.

The time limit for editing a post is 5 minutes.

For me anyway.

Yes @PennySittingPretty I am pretty sure the time limit is 5 minutes.

LilyMumsnet · 08/02/2024 07:47

Hi OP,

As posters mentioned above, there is a time limit. You'll have a few minutes to make any edits and then the option to edit will disappear from that post. Flowers

PennySittingPretty · 09/02/2024 12:16

Thanks @LilyMumsnet
can I just ask why if you edit can the original post still be viewed? It seems to defeat the point of editing really, although I’ve only ever done it to correct spelling or add info.

It's so that everyone can see the original, and therefore will realise if the OP is changing their post too much/to change its original meaning.
