How can I get topic pages to appear the way Active does?

Active is nice and clutter free: just the post title and number of replies, so it’s easy to skim.

There are some particular topics I like reading (for example Home Decoration) but because they show more clutter like text from the posts I can’t just scroll through and it does my head in.

How can I get a topic page like Home Decoration to appear like Active does? though I suspect the answer is you can’t. Do MN not get that this is a forum, not a bloody blog feed? I just want to skim the titles!!!!

It is the compact view vs Op view.
I hate it as much as you do and I am yet to find someone who likes it.
You can change the view by clicking on the arrow next to the two tiny black rectangles just under the button FOLLOW TOPIC.

It won't remember your preferences, so you might have to redo the change again and again....

Well yes I am still going to be having trouble if I have to keep changing over and over again! Any chance you could make it so preferences stick?

And unfortunately it turns out that this choice isn’t available for My Feed, only if I go to each individual topic page.

For crying out loud MN!

Just to repeat: THIS IS A FORUM NOT A BLOG WEBSITE!

All I want is to be able to skim posts from a few favourite topics in one place. Would you PLEASE add compact view to My Feed?

I find myself wondering, as I often do, why MN does not seem to understand that good UX/UI design is about simplicity and making things less, not more, complex

Well, that escalated quickly 😁.

Hi OP

You need to go to your talk settings here: https://www.mumsnet.com/settings/talk and select 'OP view' for the option 'On topic pages set my page view to'.

Please click 'save changes'. This will make your preferences permanent and you won't need to do it for individual topics.

I read your post and went oh great @LilyMumsnet so followed the link and was already on compact view, still confirmed it by save changes, then opened Parenting which I know is always OP view and it was still OP view.
No biggie, it takes less than a second to change to compact view, but just letting you know it doesn't work on Safari

This does not apply to My Feed, the place where I go to read those topics.

Can you please add compact view there too.
