Deleted post content showing in report email

MaggieFS · 04/02/2024 15:43

I came across a post which had been deleted, about which the deletion message stated it was to avoid usage of an offensive username [n.b. I've used the word offensive, I can't recall the exact word in the deletion note, but that was the gist of it.]

The offensive username was still visible, so I reported the post, even though the content had already been deleted.

It was apparent from subsequent posts that the post content had also been offensive, but I hadn't seen that.

I then received the standard email from @mnhq in response to the report, thanking me for the report and that the username had been dealt with.

BUT the now-deleted original offensive post content and username were both visible in full within the email and email subject I received. I think if a post has been deleted, it shouldn't then still automatically be included in report email replies??

How do you know which one has been deleted

I report quite a few posts.

Just delete the email and job done

Hi @MaggieFS . Thanks for letting us know about this. We're not quite sure what's happening here. It sounds like it may not be something we can change but we'd like to have a look. Would you mind replying to the email again, with a note saying that you brought the issue up in Site Stuff, and we'll have a look at the email itself then and work out if there's a way to rectify this in future or not. Thank you! Flowers

Not quite sure what you mean by 'how do I know which one has been deleted?'

I report a lot of posts, so when i get the "it's been deleted" email, how do I know which one has been deleted

Is it the personal attack I reported, or the spam, or the troll

MaggieFS · 05/02/2024 12:45

@twnety I see what you mean. I know which one it was as it was the only one I'd reported.

The issue is that if content has been deleted, I don't think it should then be visible later on. It hasn't actually been deleted. It's a glitch.

But it has been deleted from the site

DrSpartacular · 05/02/2024 17:19

Most things deleted on the internet aren't really deleted in a way that means they're gone forever. It also seems completely sensible that MN reference the post that's been reported in their replies to reports so the reporter knows what action has been taken to a particular report.
