Is there a way of making the font size bigger on the app? I looked in settings for accessibility but I maybe missing it. Cheers

Hi @delphi13 can we please just check if you're using the android or iOS app?

delphi13 · 23/01/2024 10:34

I'm on IOS. Thank you.

On iOS, if you go to Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size > Larger Text, you can increase the text size.

Hope that works for you but please let us know if you need any further help.

Hi there, I can't see an accessibility option.

Hi @delphi13

The screenshot is settings on Mumsnet - you'd need to go to the IOS settings in your phone. Flowers

It applies to all apps that support dynamic text sizing.

Hi there, yes, I've got that set to larger already but it doesn't adjust the text on Mumsnet so I wondered whether you had a setting to do it. On IOS it says it only works on apps that accept dynamic text and that doesn't seem to be the case on here. Cheers

It does for me (the usernames get a bit ugly)

Hi there @delphi13. We've been having a look at this one. Dynamic text should work on the app but it looks like you might be on an iPad rather than a mobile phone and we're wondering if that might be causing the issue. Can you tell us what device you're using?

If you are on iPad, you could try toggling off the ‘Larger Accessibility Sizes’ option and then changing the size of the text. We're not totally sure that would work but it might be worth a try.

It might also be worth trying to change the size of the text and then quitting/closing the app completely and then opening it again, although the text should just change automatically. Again, worth a go but let us know how you get on.

I'm on an iPad, the text size in mn is changing automatically for me after I alter it in settings. Ive just checked it's fine on my iPhone too,

@ErrolTheDragon did that fix it? Sorry, not clear on if it has worked or if there are still issues!

ErrolTheDragon · 26/01/2024 15:34

I'm the one who it always was working for, @LilyMumsnet!
It's the OP who is having problems.

FYI I did the latest iOS update last night. Are you up to date @delphi13 ?

delphi13 · 26/01/2024 16:02

Hi all, I'm working from a mobile rather than iPhone. I've realised it is working but just didn't increase the size very much on Mumsnet unless I stuck it to maximum. However maximum makes all the other apps I have become comically large and very unpleasant to use as you barely get any words on the page. I think Mumsnet font size ratios seem to work differently to other apps.

Thanks for everyone's help

Oh...I have my text size set to max on my iPhone (a small one!) and find other apps ok. (But then, if I don't have it max I wouldn't be able to read the damn phone at all without getting my reading glasses on every time.)

delphi13 · 26/01/2024 16:10

This is with my glasses! Clearly need new ones. 🤦‍♀️

Hi! Am I able to build on this post? I view Mumsnet on my computer vs phone. I hit a strange combo of keys the other day by accident and my font size in Mumsnet can now be seen from outer space! I can't figure out how to reduce the size of the font on my monitor. Thanks for any assistance!

Try hitting the CTRL and the - button (next to 0 on your keyboard) together
