Ignore Function

Please can we have the ability to put posters on ignore? Should you need to read a post to make sense of a thread simply click the 'reveal' button & voila. It works perfectly well on other sites. Considering how many Mumsnet threads consist of posts replying to the OP it's actually less likely to be an issue on here.

Hello @roombaclean this has been raised a few times and, while we certainly see the appeal, we have also considered the downsides to having an ignore button.

Most significantly it may create an echo chamber if users block those with differing opinions and things could get a bit cliquey. Mumsnet is by and large a broad church and we welcome a wide range of views, expressed within our guidelines. Do remember that if you don't want to engage with someone, you don't have to. And if someone is annoying you (such as tagging or hassling you) then you have the option to report them to us.

We never rule anything out of course, but we just wanted to explain our reasoning as it stands.
