Removing threads from Watched and I’m On

Bharty · 16/11/2023 17:38

I’ve got literally thousands of threads that I am “watching” or “on”.

Is there a way of clearing those caches in one fell swoop without having to remove each thread from the list individually? (which would take me forever). Maybe some clever person or @MNHQ will know?

At least I’ve just changed my settings so I won’t now automatically watch every thread I comment on.

I couldn’t find one. I set myself a target everyday now I clear them every couple of days.

Seems mad that you can't just tick one box and be gone with them all! There are about 3000 all in and frankly I've got better things to do with my weekends.

Clearly you don't if you've commented on 3000 threads!

Haha @ProvisionsOnTheDock - Better things like actively interacting with Mumsnetters, maybe?

Hi @Bharty - this has been raised before and unfortunately there isn't (currently) a way of instantly removing all the threads you're on or watching. So sorry!

Bharty · 17/11/2023 10:51

Thanks for the update and let's hope this is something that could be easily addressed in future.

Just bumping this.

Is it possible to add the tick box back onto the 'threads I'm watching' page so its possible to select threads to be deleted with one click instead of three? Plus maybe a 'select all' box for the page?

It used to be possible to select threads for deletion a lot easier than it is now, but the feature was removed a couple of years ago.

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 08/12/2023 21:00

Does it matter? Genuine question, I've just checked and I'm 'watching' 1300 threads.

In reality I've got it set to show the most recently posted on ones at the top, so just scroll down the top 10 ish and ignore the rest.

Am I storing up a nightmare of needing to delete them all in the future?!

BarbaraofSeville · 08/12/2023 21:27

I've watched some threads because I want to refer back to them later (recommendations for holiday locations etc).

And now I can't find them because they're 'somewhere' within a list of around 1300 threads.

Plus it's digital clutter, which is annoying when you can't easily get rid of it.

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 08/12/2023 22:22

Fair enough, I can see that would be annoying!

JaneJeffer · 08/12/2023 23:03

What difference does it make?
