The ‘like’ button doesn’t work on mobile?

MalcolmTuckersSwearBox · 14/11/2023 09:52

Morning. I’ve been merrily clicking the ‘like’ icon for a couple of weeks now on mobile (iPhone 11 iOS 16.6.1 safari). Yesterday I used MN on desktop (MS Edge) and discovered that the ‘like’ icon turns blue when you (I) like a post. It doesn’t do that when I use it on mobile, so am I to assume that it is isn’t working properly (at all?) on the mobile site?

I’ve tried logging out and back in and clearing cookies on my phone. No joy.

Hello, @MalcolmTuckersSwearBox are you able to send a screen recording of you clicking the button? If you'd rather not post here you can mail to [email protected] and we'll look into it right away.

MalcolmTuckersSwearBox · 14/11/2023 14:07

I have no idea how to do that, sorry.

Are you OK for us to pass instructions, and can we check if you've tried clearing your cache? Cookies are good but cache is browser memory, and clearing it tends to solve many issues!

Where?

gamerchick · 14/11/2023 16:03

Hi again @MalcolmTuckersSwearBox,

As @LilyMumsnet mentioned, clearing your cache in Edge might help. This will log you out of your Mumsnet account and will reset your cookies. You'll need to consent to cookies again when you visit the site and log back in.

  1. In Edge, select Settings and more ‘…’ > Settings > Cookies and site permissions.
  2. Under Cookies and data stored, select Manage and delete cookies and site data > See all cookies and site data and search for Mumsnet.
  3. Select the down arrow* to the right of Mumsnet and select Delete*.

Let us know if that does the trick or not.

I wasn't being snippy. I found out last week that some people have a reply button whilst I just have a 'add message' one. It seems different systems show different things.

It works in edge but not in safari @HebeMumsnet .

I wasn’t being funny either @AlisonDonut . I hadn’t realised I’d used the wrong word until I read yours and @gamerchick ‘s replies. What a dope!
