Unintentional Sock puppetry

I'm a regular name-changer and when I used to post on threads where I had already posted I relied on the fact that my name would automatically be changed to the one I'd originally used on the thread.
However, I've just noticed this no longer happens and my posts are getting posted with my current name.

Has this function stopped working? Or am I mistaken and it never really existed 😅

Luckily my accidental sock-puppetry today is completely harmless.

It works for me. I noticed just today that posting on an old thread that had recently been revived, my old username showed up.

Oh how confusing, yes I worked on the assumption it stayed same name for each thread! I much prefer that as I like to name change fairly frequently but equally sometimes older threads bubble back up

Yep, happens to me too unless I manually change my name above each post. That was my first NC ever, and fail.

Someone outed themselves the other week because they switched from their laptop to their phone, and apparently they were logged in on their phone under a different name.

Oh good thinking, let me check if I've accidentally done that?

Nah, it's definitely not working for me. Maybe it depends whether you are using the app or on the operating system etc. I'm on an iPad using the app. 🫤

Hi all

Thanks for raising this. On the web version, it auto-populates the username that you've used on the thread before (although you can still change it).

It doesn't currently do this on the mobile app.
