Does Mumsnet Premium allow you to see a poster’s other usernames?

I’ve noticed that some people on here like to bring up a poster’s other threads, in order to discredit the poster and illustrate inconsistencies in their story.

Sometimes they say that the poster’s other threads tell a different story, and that the poster used a different username.

I think that you can search Mumsnet for other threads by the same poster if you have Premium. But can you also see all the threads under that poster’s other usernames?

I hope that question makes sense. Basically, does Premium allow you to see a poster’s multiple usernames, and therefore link up all their posts regardless of whether they changed username?

Absolutely not - namechanging is a privacy feature to protect users. Nobody but MNHQ has access to a user's username history. We can expect some people to recognise a posters style. We often feel that bringing this on threads is not in the spirit of civil discussion and likely something that we would remove. If you see anything like this, please do report it to us so that we can take a look.

@LilyMumsnet thank you. I thought it would be a bit pointless to allow name changes which could be tracked by other users, but a few things I’ve read made me start to wonder.

@Helenahandkart Sometimes, MNers will recognise a posting style or details from a previous post and put two and two together. As always we ask people to report rather than air their suspicions on the thread.
