Suggestion for edit function for OPs first post only

IncompleteSenten · 02/11/2023 15:29

How about introducing the ability for the op to add to their first post at any point, not just for a few minutes after posting.

Not edit it or remove it, just add additional information. So often people don't read through and the situation has moved on or more info has been added that has changed things.

Yes I know we've got see all and people should use it 😁 but it's clear lots don't.

It's something to consider, maybe?

No, because the first posts in response could end up looking ridiculous if the OP adds pertinent information afterwards.

Thanks, OP. We'll pass this on for discussion. Flowers

No, because the first posts in response could end up looking ridiculous if the OP adds pertinent information afterwards.

If each edit was timestamped and in italics or something it would be obvious that it was added later.

But that would be tantamount to 'spoilers' for those of us who like to read longer threads and see the discussion evolve.

It'd be better (though unfortunately impossible to implement) if no one could post without having read all the OPs posts.

Having an 'append to OP' option would probably make it more likely for people to only read the OP not updates.

Here's an idea... could it be feasible for the system to automatically append a message such as '2 more posts from the OP' , perhaps linking to the filtered view?
