I am just wondering, what records you hold of us?

Be it links we've clicked on from here, details of CAT's , our IP's, surveys you've asked us to fill out, etc.

And if so, in what circumstances do you use it.

(sorry I am freaked out after a conversation this weekend about google and facebook and such and the mind boggling data they are holding without prior permission)

Hiya,
Am not actually sure what, if anything, is actually stored in the shed and what is put out for the bin men (will ask tech) but don't worry we don't use it for anything or pass it on to anyone and it is explicitly against our privacy policy (bottom of this page) to do so. Hope that helps assuage your concerns.

GeekBoy · 03/03/2008 20:42

I suspect mumsnet don't run on huge clouds though... ...with 700,000+ servers (apparently) Google can afford to store details of absolutely everything action (clicks, searches, transactions) users complete on their sites..

southeastastra · 03/03/2008 20:43

frightening stuff if you think about it

JustineMumsnet · 03/03/2008 20:54

No we have one and are saving up for a second

GeekBoy · 03/03/2008 21:20

I think you're telling big pork pies Justine! - and is Tech a Gooner (or is that one of the other MN Towers crew?)

JustineMumsnet · 03/03/2008 21:24

Not me - I'm a Liverpool fan and Tech has no interest in footie... he's far too modern man.

GeekBoy · 03/03/2008 21:33

just wondered why the CNAME (DNS record) for www.mumsnet.com is arsenal.dsc.net!

AbbyMumsnet · 03/03/2008 21:46

did anyone mention that Arsenal are top of the league, by any chance?

GeekBoy · 03/03/2008 21:48

arrggghhh a Gooner!!(Abby?)

VVVQVJournalist · 03/03/2008 21:54

Is there an option to "opt out" of having your words quoted from MN?

JustineMumsnet · 03/03/2008 22:59

No am afraid not VVVQ - we did offer that last time for the books and it was extraordiarily time-consuming - plus we lived in terror that we'd mislaid an email and included someone's posts that we shouldn't have. Afterwards quite a few who'd changed their names wished they hadn't too.

VVVQVJournalist · 03/03/2008 23:07

Will mail you justine.

Tech · 04/03/2008 00:18

mumsnet is arsenal.dsc.net cos arsenal is my nearest tube station. Just a name really.

AbbyMumsnet · 06/03/2008 22:05

I think you'll find it is far more than just a name.

DualCycloneCod · 06/03/2008 22:08
