Why was the "Cath Kidston Sale - Too good to be true?" Thread deleted?

I thought it was really good to show it was a scam, its the best one I have seen and made me more likely to look out??

It was just a thread warning about a scam site. Cant see how it was breaking talk guidelines. It was a real scam and thankfully the site has been deleted.

What guideline did it break?

So is their online sale a scam!??

Yes the company no longer exists as it was purchased by Next Group

There are still bargains online! (Or so i thought)

It was an amaingly well done site - and possibly would have fooled me too (and I am in IT!!) - I thought it was a public service to leave it up

It looked just like I would expect the real site to look like, there was nothing obvious (apart from the prices) that said scam site

They are still appearing on Facebook

The site is still up! I'll remove the items from my basket then 😢

If you looked at the contact details they were nothing to do with Cath Kidston or Next (who bought them out)
The cathkidstonuk.com site is no longer reachable so they may have set up another

If the brand 'Cath Kidston' still exists, then perhaps its owners want to protect it by minimising the online occurence of the term in connection with the fraud?
Even if the thread was accurately attacking the misuse of the brand name, rather than the brand itself, it could potentially have been damaging in some way and even an IP infringement?

Yes it shouldn’t have been deleted as I got scammed by them and wanted to report it so no one else got scammed !! It’s the only reason I joined ! I shall now close my account .

when i search cath kidston sale no websites come up. Virgin has blocked the cathkidstonuk.com now on my pc. The link provided in the original post is unreachable

I bought from them in June no problems at all.

It looks so real, would have totally been caught out. Just checked and no contact number and a dodgy email address in contact info. Came up as the second option when i googled it.

So did I but it was from the legitimate Cath Kidston site which has since closed down. There were no returns etc because they were in administration. The Picadilly store which was their flagship store only closed down a few weeks ago. I walk past it on the way to work so have watched the sales going on.

unfortunately the cathkidstonuksale.com website is still running. I just got scammed today. I only bought from it with those crazy discounts because I'd heard Cath Kidston was closing, and as Im in Australia, didnt realise that it had already happened! Pest! I feel a bit dumb, Im usually really careful. Thought of a Cath Kidston 'sale' must make my brain mush

Hi I think I’ve done the same thing just today too! I tried to check out before realising it was a scam and it said “payment failed” is that what happened to you?

I blocked my card so fingers crossed they can’t take any money!

Oh wow, that site does look legit.

It's still running! I nearly got caught today, it was only because my (adult) daughter took a closer look and warned me.

Who do we report these things too?

Maybe create a thread about this in the Christmas board @BrassCandlestick ? Not many will see it here or they might open and think zombie thread and not read it.
