I was just going to start a thread here about it.

Also - when clicking on "new post" I end up back on page one of the thread, not on the new post (which was on page three in my example).

I had that but I refreshed the page and after about 3 tries it was ok again. The post I was trying to quote was defo not deleted.
I've got the clicking on 'new post' taking me back to the beginning though, which is pretty annoying.
