Retrospective name change?

Quick question. When you change your main username on your account (rather than just for a particular thread) does it normally retrospectively change the name on all your previous posts?

No it doesn’t

How very odd, because I have noticed it happen. It seems a bit dubious if some posters are able to retrospectively name change unless of course there is some kind of safeguarding issue

I think MN will do it occasionally by request - I remember the penis beaker poster had the username on all her other posts changed so they couldn't be linked after it went viral. I don't think users can do it.
