MN message on deleted white power thread

Just wondering why the message from mods on the deleted white power symbol thread says that the thread has been taken down to look into the background? This is what we say you if you are concerned that it is a troll or pbp starting a thread.
The real problem with that thread was not the post, but the racism posted on many comments.
So why suggest the problem is with the poster? Or is this just an attempt by MNHQ to try and hide the racism?

I read some of that thread this morning. I agree, there were many racist comments, but I'm also not sure if OPs reasons for starting the thread were entirely genuine. It's the kind of thread that you know straight away is going to be extremely divisive.

Divisive? Because it talks about racism?
Every thread I have ever seen about racism on MN gets accused of being goady and deleted.
Anyway deactivating now. I can't stay on a site so riddled with racism.

Hello @giraggegiraffe we received a lot of reports about this thread and even though we delete a thread we still need to look at what was reported and why. We'll often take a thread down first if it's causing upset (as this one was) and then look into the background of the posters being reported. From there we may mail mail/suspend/ban anyone who we feel is not posting with good intentions.

We don't allow racism anywhere on Mumsnet and will delete such posts when reported to us. We're sorry you don't want to stick around but we do appreciate posters who let us know about posts like this.

I was disappointed it was taken down. I thought there was interesting stuff being said- the racism was being effectively challenged. Even if the OP wasn't genuine, and I saw nothing to suggest she wasn't, it was a situation that could easily happen-any one of us might come across similar tomorrow.

I want don’t want racist threads or comments to stay up. People shouldn’t have to wade through discrimination on a chat site. I agree with OP that a racist post and thread with a racist premise and racist comments should have a message that reflects why it is unacceptable.

Can't it be both? That OP was a troll and that there were a bunch of racists on the thread?

Yeah, weird that none of the posts pushing out white pride slogans were deleted.
