I received the message too. Browser is Bing on a laptop.

Morning, everyone. We'll look into this right now. Obviously it goes without saying that we wouldn't advise anyone to send money or respond otherwise to these sorts of DMs. We'll look into the messages themselves first and then we'll be back with news on the issue of not being able to report the DMs as soon as we have any.

HebeMumsnet · 07/06/2023 10:17

Hello again. We're having a chat with the user concerned about this and will be making clear our policy on begging threads and unwanted PMs etc.

As one or two previous posters have said, it looks like the reporting of PMs is working fine, but you have to click 'the right three dots'. So it's not the three dots at the top of the page you want; it's the three dots just to the side of the message. Hopefully that sorts that issue but if anyone has any further problems with PMs please do drop us another line.

I've had this message too and wanted to ask how to report

LilyMumsnet · 08/06/2023 12:28

Hi both

If you click on three dots on the PM, can you see the option to report?

When I click on the 3 dots on the left, all I get is 'Blocked users' and 'Mark all a read', but no report button.

There's no report button under the 3 dots on the right either.

Using a laptop on Chrome.

NewPinkJacket · 08/06/2023 17:41

*as read

Neverinamonthofsundays · 08/06/2023 18:33

I got the initial message and then the following day I got an apology off the same poster.

tribpot · 08/06/2023 20:49

@NewPinkJacket exactly half way down the message, you should see another set of three dots, to the right of it. The only option when you click on those three dots is 'report message'. I think the message in question was a long one so you have to scroll down to see these three dots (and surely MN have realised from this thread alone that that is a design that needs to change).

Confusedmumannoyedson · 11/06/2023 16:53

I've has a message from the same user name. AurorNicole

@tribpot Thank you!

I had no idea (didn't spot the dots further down the message).

And I agree, it needs to change.

tribpot · 12/06/2023 07:37

I had no idea either @NewPinkJacket until @IWonderWhereThatDishDidGo pointed out the mysterious second set of 3 dots. I can kind of understand why MN think you might want to report one message, rather than the entire conversation with someone, so make it a (poorly placed) feature of the message rather than the conversation but there needs to be some option visible in the top three dots, like 'report entire conversation'.
