New banner ad

I have logged into the app today (android) and there is a banner ad on top of every single page. Stays in place when I scroll. This i could maybe deal with (though I have a large phone at the moment, on a smaller phone it would be annoying), but it changes. The text in it "flips" up. How am I supposed to read when that is going on and I can't get rid of it? It's too distracting.

Came on to say exactly the same thing. It's awful. I also find it amazing that this is the "Improvement" that they decided to go for for the android app!! Not so we can filter. Not so we can post better, nope, a bloody ad!

Mine keeps flicking on and off, when it's on half the time it's just a big grey box taking up half the screen but not even containing an advert. The app is already terrible without this..

StressyMcStressFace · 23/05/2023 08:14

Yep. I agree it's awful. At least you could scroll past the ads in the comments. This is just there all the time! The app just keeps getting worse. There have never been any improvements made to it since I joined a few years ago Angry. Time to listen to your users @mumsnet

Hi @mangoontoast and everyone else. We're sorry these ads are causing problems for you on the android app. Can you please give us some details of the devices you're using so we can take a closer look?

If anyone can post a screenshot of what you're seeing, that would also help. Thank you.

I can't imagine why my device matters? The ad is meant to be there, I'm just finding it incredibly annoying and distracting. It looks the same as the pp picture.

Basically a quarter of the page now is a banner ad and therefore it makes reading threads difficult. Especially when it keeps changing.

Ps. I agree, it's the app not an individual phone that is causing the issue.

We're actively working on improving both the Android and iOS apps. As part of that we'll be looking at our ad set up, so we'll make a note of your feedback. Thanks.
