When I use numbers it converts to a bullet point

I’ve noticed a few times over about 4-5 months (so not just recently) that if I have some points to make the first point always converts automatically to a bullet point.

Let me demonstrate:

  1. This will be a bullet point
  2. This will be number 2
  3. This will be number 3.

I’ve done a screenshot of the message before I hit POST and you will see that it aligned itself perfectly well before I hit POST.

Hi OP

Can we just check what device and browser you're using?

Yea I've noticed this too!
I use the app on an iPhone

These are annoying me in a different way, I am on the 26 books thread where a typical post would be

14 - Harry Potter etc

But if you use a full stop after the number, whatever number it is, it converts it to number 1 of a bullet pointed list, I have to remember to use a colon or hyphen instead now. We don't need autoformatting.

EversoDisorganised · 03/05/2023 09:07

Not that different actually, but the fact that it always reverts to 1 instead of 14 or whatever is annoying.

I am also using iOS app on the iPhone 11 pro.

That IS annoying! I find my word document alter formats like that on my MacBook Air as well though. I've tried to google my way into a remedy, but can't seem to find the right word searches for it so it remains as much a problem it ever did.

Hi all

This is quite a common formatting tool but we're happy to raise the feedback.
You should be able to remove the numbered bullets, is this something you're able to do?

EversoDisorganised · 03/05/2023 10:52

These autoformatting things are always one of the first things I switch off when I get a new phone, new version of Word or whatever, they are really annoying. But I guess there is a demand for them, couldn't it be something you could switch off in the settings? I'm using the mobile site not the app.
