So sick of losing posts to page reloads

Yet again, I have just almost finished posting a longish complex post to answer a thread about something that I have experience in…. Kaput due to yet another advert driven page reload.

Please MN, if we must have constantly reloading ads, can you not make the posting box immune?

It is frustrating, a waste of our time, and loses OP’s responses that they might find helpful.

We are here for the content, not the ads.

Please can we get your browsers, devices, the thread(s) you were on when this happened and can you please also let us know how many posts your viewing per page? It sounds really frustrating and we are looking into it. We haven't managed to replicate yet so as much information as possible would be really useful.

Hi @LilyMumsnet I use safari on my iPhone, mobile site, and was on a thread on the Property board. I view 100 posts per page.

I’ve also been having this issue on safari, on iPhone for a few days now.

I lose so many replies this way and to be honest I don’t bother rewriting so that info is just gone. Safari on my phone.

I get this if I use iPhone and safari, and I recall posters complaining about it for quite a while now. Mine’s set to 50 posts per page.

This and all the adverts make the mobile site a bit rubbish tbh. I am currently being assailed and followed around by a huge chocolate mug cake, pink Daz, and some product in German, and hardly any Talk content.

It’s not a new or intermittent problem. It has been happening since the last big site overhaul.

With plenty of complaints in the meantime.

Do MNHQ never spend time using MN in the way that many of your users do?

Just happened to me on a thread I spent a lot of time typing. Very annoying.

IPhone Safari user here too.

It happens on Chrome and on an android phone as well. Especially if you pop over to another tab you have open (say you're googling something for somebody) then go back to the MN tab you've got open, the page will automatically refresh and anything you've written in the posting box has gone.

Another chrome and Android user. Its so irritating and so unnecessary. Each time its happened I just end up going to another website to browse and kill time instead.

Same happening to me and I’ve just lost a reply I was writing, yet again.
Safari on iPad and it happens on all boards.
The problem appeared after the site overhaul, disappeared and now it’s happening again.

Any updates MN? It’s still happening. I was just reading a thread and the page refreshed so abruptly it made me jump.

This has been happening to me too. The page just reloaded right now on this thread. I am using iPhone as well.

@LilyMumsnet For added information about my pp above. There were only 14 posts including the Op at the time the page reloaded.

Please could you adjust your talk settings temporarily, to view less posts per page? Just so we can identify whether this is the cause.

@LilyMumsnet I just went into talk settings and it is already set to the lowest amount of posts per page. And I have been experiencing this problem too.

Also, the page reloads frequently. So, not just a problem of losing what you’ve written and just about to post but also makes it difficult to read.

I’ll be halfway through reading someone’s post, the page reloads, I then have to scroll to find where I was up to and the page reloads again before I get to the post or reloads again before I finish reading it.

I changed mine just now from 50 to 25, the lowest. No difference.

Also having this problem on chrome android. With 25 posts to load.
