Historic 2016 thread in Site Stuff deleted today!

Gobsmacked that a 1,000 post thread of genuine historical interest from 7 years 8 months ago has been deleted today for "Breaking Talk Guidelines":

This was shortly after that thread was cited and linked on a thread in "Sex and Gender" (FWR), as evidence of just how long Mumsnet members had been discussing issues to do with "sex and gender".

That was long before I became aware of these issues and I was looking forward to reading what members had to say back then - but BOOM! it was gone!

I also came across an FWR thread from 2018 on a similar subject, where the OP and every single reply, including a post by a MNHQ Mod, has been deleted. Are old threads on "sex and gender" topics, whether in Site Stuff of FWR being vandalised?

I read it yesterday as it was linked from a thread in FWR. It was all there, including replies from KateMumsnet. The last post was "I'm the last Spartacus on the thread".

Seems weird to delete it late on a Sunday night, almost 8 years later

Morning, all. I'm so sorry - this was my SNAFU (actually, it might have been a FU to be fair). We had a report on this thread late last night, spotted that it had no original post and assumed it was an error and the whole thread should have been deleted at the time. We don't usually delete 'just' an OP as the thread then makes no sense but it looks like we made an exception for this one.

It's back where it should be now. Thanks for letting us know!

We think that might be a glitch, @Bosky as the whole thread was initially deleted in 2018. We've deleted it properly now as unfortunately, it was breaking guidelines in nearly every post.

Incidentally, does anyone play Wordle? Snafu was a controversial one a few weeks ago. It does make me think of a skittish mythical creature with large eyes rather than us making a dog's dinner of something.

Found this thread accidentally and am resurrecting it to say what a lovely read it makes!
