Scam advertising on MN

Hey HQ.

Have seen this clickbaity ad for a Bitcoin scam appearing on the forum a couple of times, just wanted to make you aware as it seems pretty dodgy and predatory seeing as people are struggling with finances. Also not really keen on the blatant lies and fake news it leads to.

I’ve also seen an increase in ads for gambling.

There were at least 2 threads about this exact same advert yesterday.

I think one of the posters did supply the url.

I think the MN response said something like "we have blocked it but it may still appear for a few days" - or something like that.

It definitely shouldn't be reappearing today if blocked, sometimes ads come back and disguise themselves. We'll look into it now!

Hello again, everyone.

Bit of an update. This seems to be being caused by a malicious company that are using click through sites and accounts to buy across multiple sites. It could take several days to track down the company that is behind it all, so we're banning the ads whenever we see then and have also raised this to The Media Trust again, who should be able to track down the root buyer so we can get rid of it permanently.

In the meantime, it would be really helpful if you could keep sending us links to the click through URL here so we can block each one as soon as they are spotted. Many thanks.
