Does Premium stop the Promoted By Mumsnet threads?

Until a couple of months ago I had a Premium membership. I don't have a lot of money but I justified the fee because I spend a lot of time (mainly lurking) on here. I also hoped to have been chosen for some product trials and take advantage of some deals. The benefits didn't really materialise so I cancelled my membership recently.

I haven't noticed any increase in obvious ads on the site since I dropped Premium, but very recently I seem to be overrun by Promoted threads. Do Premium members still see these threads? Are they something new?

Hi OP

The sponsored threads are a part of our advertising on the site and recently we have created more of these. We're happy to take on board any feedback that you have about these. Flowers

There a way, way too many of them. That's my feedback.

@LilyMumsnet are you able to answer my question? Do Premium members still see the Promoted threads?

Hi there @NeonBoomerang . Yes, Premium Users do still see the Promoted by threads.

NeonBoomerang · 29/03/2023 09:58

I see. Definitely not worth the subscription, then.

I really detest those ad-threads on the boards. They're often jarring - I don't want to see "create a newborn routine" on the elderly parents board.

Cincinnatus · 29/03/2023 14:06

If you get an ad-blocker they stop.

CollieFIower · 30/03/2023 06:37

I've got premium and I don't see any "promoted by" threads. I'd be complaining and probably cancelling if I did!

Are you able to recommend an ad blocker that does this? I normally just use the default one in Chrome (running on Google phone) but it doesn't filter these threads out.

Hey, I have AdGuard and Adblock Pro. Hope it works for you too. The promoted stuff did my head in!

Random789 · 31/03/2023 19:40

I don't see any 'promoted by mumsnet' threads and I'm not on premium.

The ad blocker i use is Ghostery

Hello @NeonBoomerang of course it's entirely up to individual MNers as to whether they sign up to Premium and whether they feel the sub is worth it for them. Subscribers see zero display ads such as banners, video and pop-ups. There are additional benefits (and more added all the time) including first access to our live expert zoom chats (most recently from Hags author Victoria Smith), tailored offers and priority access for product tests. All revenue we receive from Premium will go directly to fund our campaigning work in 2023.

I wasn't able to use another ad blocker with Chrome on Android. I subscribed to Premium for a month as an experiment and haven't seen a Promoted thread since...
