How do I hide gifs, or at least stop them playing over and over, please?

Hi there @MobyJeff. Thanks for getting in touch. We're afraid there isn't currently any way to stop them playing, but we hear what you're saying and we're keen to hear feedback from others on how they feel about the gifs.

I don't like them. They take up a lot of room and they are generally ugly. I appreciate I may be out of step (except with @MobyJeff ) but maybe an option not to autoplay would help.

Absolutely loathe them. There's a lot of serious threads on these boards and I've already seen a bunch of them marred by people posting "funny" GIFs and contributing nothing else.

I like gifs within certain contexts but I think you should turn them off until you can stop them autoplaying.

I dislike them. They are doing my nut in.

So many of them are wildly annoying, inappropriately placed, headache-inducing, unintelligible and/or fucking stupid.

I'd very much appreciate a 'don't see GIFs' / 'turn off autoplay' feature.

One think I always liked about MN was how clean the forum was. No big images, plain text links etc. It’s a hot mess now with intrusive adverts, gifs, huge big link images, it’s so jarring to look at. I hate it.

It's been one of the things I liked about here - I have ASD and adhd and I get overwhelmed by the videos. Please can you make them stop.

I don't like them. A thread I was trying to read yesterday was full of gifs and just became ridiculous, I gave up in the end as it repeatedly crashed.

I’m so pleased it’s not just me. I really don’t want to piss on anyone’s chips, but they really, really spoil MN for me. Just make it stop!
