Looks like a thread but is in fact an ad

@MnHq I am talking specifically about the "Getting married in two weeks" thread.... it's now marked as an Advert.

Is the whole thing a fake? Can you explain how this came about? Are there others?

I feel a bit duped to be honest.

Hello @WelshWondergirl no it's not a fake - the thread was started by a genuine MNer. We've been promoting some threads that might be useful but we're having a discussion now about the Ad tag as we can see why this would be confusing. Will report back ASAP.

But what makes it an Ad @YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet ?
Is Monsoon or one of the other dress retailers mentioned paying you to promote it? Are you deleting replies which don't mention a retailer which has paid for content?
I am confused!

Hi again @WelshWondergirl . Don't worry - you're not the only one to be confused by this. It's the ad tag that is erroneous here and we're looking into whether we can do something about that. It seems threads we promote are automatically tagged as 'ad', which we agree is confusing. They're not ads at all, so we're looking into that. These are just threads that we thought were interesting or more Mumsnetters would like to see so we've 'promoted' them to make them easier to find as they might be useful. Hope that explains things a bit further. Do shout if there's anything else.

Ah yeah I think I saw one the other day about nobody's child? But it really wasn't flattering about nobody's child and wad asking for alternatives!

These would be less annoying if they were at least relevant to the board they appeared on, but it’s very tiresome on, for example, Style and Beauty, that you now have to scroll through half a dozen unrelated ad threads to get to anything about S&B.
