Why does my hidden topic keep showing up

C'mon, @Mumsnet, this is getting tedious.
I have (finally found out how to) hidden the sex topic. It interests me not one jot.

Why do i keep seeing it in the "last hour" threads?
What on earth is the point?
Also, can't you just have a Hide Topic / Follow Topic button instead of faffing around going into settings to hide things? It is 2023 not the era of AOL or Compuserve
