No sex board on active. Please comment if you agree.

I really wish the sex board wasn’t on active. It changes the whole tone of the Mumsnet board when you click on Active. And not in a good way.

Agree. I've hidden it, per MNHQ's advice, but I think they ABVU in forcing people to opt out of seeing the sex topic, rather than opting in.

I agree. And I also think that MNHQ should go back to a 180 day waiting period before new members can post on the sex board.

I also agree with @JazzyGeoff's post:

I actually think a sex topic, on a chat board primarily aimed at women and used by women is a great idea for a useful resource for questions about all things sex; before kids, after kids, peri and post menopausal etc as well as just wanting other women's frank and open opinions on general filth.

I've looked at the current Sex board- it's not that. It seems to be a hang out for men, mainly.

Who, at MNHQ thought this was a good idea? How many of those behind this development have given birth? How many of them are men? How many of them genuinely understand what women want in those days/weeks/months after having a baby, and where sex fits in?

I'm also getting increasingly annoyed about the anodyne responses that we're getting. I suspect that you're having to toe the party line @LilyMumsnet - so please note this isn't directed at you personally.

But ignoring all the posts and threads that have been made about this is insulting to your users - who are your content providers after all.

The hook up thread in particular has a male : female ratio that is massively out of kilter with the rest of the site. It's very obvious that a lot of men come to Mumsnet solely for that thread because they don't post anywhere else, even in the sex topic.

I can see that a woman-centred sex topic on MN would be really useful and I think it probably started out that way, but you can't achieve that while rolling out the red carpet for men.

I don't mind having the sex topic but would like to choose when i see it.
