It's everywhere. Ffs why do we need this?

OP posts:
DerangedViper · 17/02/2023 15:22

Can't you just hide the topic, as you don't want to see it?

RedDoughnut · 17/02/2023 15:22

I agree. It's sleazy.

LilyMumsnet · 17/02/2023 15:23

Hi OP

You can hide the sex topic by going to your talk settings and scrolling down to manage hidden topics. Here's a link: www.mumsnet.com/settings/talk

Iwouldlikesomecake · 17/02/2023 15:29

I doubt it’s just the topic, it’s all the stupid ads everywhere for sex toys.

AutumnLeavesFallingIntoPlace · 17/02/2023 15:31

How do we make that rotten 'reigniting intimacy' promoted by mumsnet thing go away? There's no option to hide it and I have rarely read anything so badly written and misjudged here before. With that and the vibrator pushing, it does seem a bit relentless on here at the moment!

It really does.

We get MN. You want to flog your new dildo.

AlisonDonut · 17/02/2023 15:32

I use an adblocker and hid the sex topic. It really is quite simple to do.

vodkaredbullgirl · 17/02/2023 15:35

I've hidden the topic and have ad blocker so no ads.

Yes, I don't want this on my phone when browsing in public or around children. I never get ads like this when browsing any other site.

I know it’s grim.

Caramelsmadfuzzytail · 20/02/2023 14:47

IS IT actually possible to hide the topic now? It's been on my hidden topic list since doomsday and I have still been getting threads in active. I even had a thread about it but no one answered.

Yep, done all this.

There are the 'stickied' MNHQ promotion threads, though. I wish I could simply magic them away too. And they seem to be 'stickied' there, suspended in our collective tedium, for bloody ages.

Caramelsmadfuzzytail · 20/02/2023 14:52

I have answered my own question.
Having scrolled down active. Surprise, surprise, there's a sex topic thread.
Howz about you sort it so that the topic IS actually hidden. It appears no matter what browser I use and whether I use an android phone or tablet and I use the mobile site.

SoupDragon · 20/02/2023 15:08

I've hidden it and can't see any but I don't know whether that's because they're hidden or because there aren't any in Active at the moment. There were never many showing on Active for me over the day anyway.

BruceAndNosh · 21/02/2023 12:30

I tried hiding the "promoted by mumsnet" section but it's not possible!
Some of their promoted titles are deeply irritating

BeautifulDayintheneighbourhood · 21/02/2023 13:10

I agree. It makes me shudder

FuckeNell · 21/02/2023 13:14

Why has it been changed? It really does make my skin crawl

Movinghouseatlast · 21/02/2023 13:58

The dildo thing is annoying. Yes, get wanking ASAP after you give birth why don't you.

“Reconnect with yourself after birth with this…” [links to vibrator]

bizarre marketing and odd syntax.

Have a word with yourselves MNHQ.

maddy68 · 21/02/2023 16:32

Agreed. You can't hide the topic either in android app. It's putting me off using Mumsnet

NooNakedJacuzziness · 21/02/2023 16:36

Loads of people have asked for it to be taken off Active (those that read/post on it lots and those who don't). Don't think anyone wants it in Active except MNHQ.

Ormally · 21/02/2023 16:39

Wonder what the stats are for clicks on that one. Not meaning the on/off switch.

MrsRickAstley · 21/02/2023 16:39

@mnhq how do I block the subject. It won't let add to the box. I can follow but not unfollow.

I really don't want to see subjects like 'rimming' while I eat my breakfast!!

Viviennemary · 21/02/2023 16:46

Those adverts for sex gadgets are extremely offensive. That one about using it after birth hit a new low. On a parenting site. Just why.

I have the same problem. Using Brave as my browser. I don't want to see the sex topics and hiding doesn't work.
