Can’t log in on app

I’m on an iPhone running iOS 16.1.1

The app glitched this morning and completely froze. I reinstalled the app and restarted my phone.

obviously I now had to re-log in. The password I am certain was correct wasn’t being accepted, so I used the ‘ forgot password’ button which took me to the desktop site where I was logged in. It didn’t take me to a Change Password page, just to the homepage of MN,

Went to settings, only option to change password was by entering my existing password, which obviously I don’t know.

What do I do now? I hate using the desktop version on my phone as it’s so clunky. I don’t want to log out of the desktop site unless I have to in case I can’t back in anywhere.

.. unless logging out of the desktop site will promo a forgot password link that actually work? Ok that makes sense, I might try that.
