Totally inappropriate enormous vibrator adverts now ALL over Mumnset.

What on earth are you thinking of? Is Mumsnet really that short of cash that they have to stoop this low?

Not to mention the ridiculous woke language ie "people with wombs".

Totally inappropriate on ALL levels.

How can sex and motherhood be taboo? Do they think babies are brought by the stork, or found under gooseberry bushes?

This is not about babies but about sex toys. Do you think sex toys are necessary to having babies?

IceyDicey · 02/02/2023 11:02

I’m not at all offended by the pictures popping up(fnar fnar). No child is going to recognise what it is.
i absolutely object to the language used in the advert.

Is it suitable for arsehole owners?

'Created by arseholes for arseholes'

RedCarsGoFaster · 02/02/2023 10:30

"anybody with a clitoris"?????

FFS, we're women!!! Women!!!

Why is the word women now taboo?

Massive fail by MN and the collaboration company.

Am I a TERF because I have a vulva and a clitoris? Apparently so.

The only good news is it's shit like this that is waking people up to the radical agenda to erase the female sex from real life and allow the trans agenda to overtake us.

THIS!!!

UnfinishedBusiness · 02/02/2023 11:03

ok, so if I’m a vulva “owner” does that mean I can take it in and part exchange for a spare pair of hands, or eyes in the back of my head maybe🤷‍♀️

Riverlee · 02/02/2023 11:03

Seriously mumsnet, do you read the threads on the forums and realise how terms like vulva owners are offensive? Of all the sites in all the world, you would have thought mumsnet would have got it, but no. How many times have their been posts where mn-etters have actively boycotted products that disregarded or disrespected women (for me, McCains and their knockers advert).

SpareHeirOverThere · 02/02/2023 11:03

God, it does look like Shrek's ear! I can't unsee that now.

HoodieBell · 02/02/2023 11:04

I'm not offended at all, sorry if some find that offensive. I am a womb and vulva owner, they are both my own not weird mementoes from my serial killing days.

RaiseTheStakesAndMakeTheLastWordDuckhead · 02/02/2023 11:05

I don’t get the drama.

In the ad I’m seeing the word “women” everywhere.

siucra · 02/02/2023 11:05

I think it's been an embarrassment for Mumsnet, to be honest. All this talk about 'down there' and 'vulva owners'. It's not sexy, it's silly.
This company - Smile Makers (yuk) - doesn't care about mothers or women, it just wants to flog a product.
If Mumsnet wants to do deals with companies - and another vibrator company? - then it needs to make sure that it isn't silly, doesn't used womb carriers and is genuinely something that aligns with women's values.
Look at the mess that is happening in Scotland at the moment. Real women's lives are being put in danger because of the desperation not to hurt trans people's feelings. If you asked actual Trans people, then you might find, they don't want to trample over women's rights either.
Mumsnet has been a safe space from this misogyny - please do something about this straight away.
MNHQ - don't you realise we are EXHAUSTED by misogyny, we are feeling under attack and it happens here?

Actual mega-LOL! Thank you!! 🤣

Looks like it was designed by Team Apex on the Apprentice in 45 minutes while the sub team shouted at a poor graphic designer and argued about the spelling of 'vulva'.

'Green. Let's make it green. All over? Yes. It looks eco friendly doesn't it? Is it diverse enough? As long as we don't use the word woman, we're good'

Do you remember the brown and green "turd" toothbrush from season 16?! 🤣

ShirleyPhallus · 02/02/2023 11:05

Agreed, it’s awful

Oh absolutely not. The holy act of procreation should not be sullied by any pleasure on the part if the receptacle, should it?

Your have those body parts because you are a woman.

It is such a biology fail, though. No mention of the clitoris, but having a womb is relevant?

ZestFest · 02/02/2023 11:06

This is ill-thought out and really objectionable.

Don't contribute to the erasure of women's language
Don't market sex toys to women who've just given birth ffs

TheLeadbetterLife · 02/02/2023 11:06

AllOutofEverything · 02/02/2023 11:01

Obviously not. I am questioning the marketing strategy of this vibrator which suggests there's a taboo around sex and motherhood. Which seems incongruous, unless one doesn't understand how motherhood comes about.

SomersetDreams · 02/02/2023 11:06

I unblock adblock and got cat food ads.

The whole world not just mumsnet has gone madder with using 'correct terminology'

SocialLite · 02/02/2023 11:07

I think things like this should be normalised, not hidden in dark corners. If anything can be advertised here, then I have no issues with vibrators being advertised too.

I don't like adverts in general, but don't want to pay for Mumsnet either, so the adverts benefit me in the long run.

antipodeancanary · 02/02/2023 11:09

Extremely poorly thought out. Not fitting at all for me. I actually have never been on a site where I have received unsolicited pictures of vibrators. Who thought it would be Mumsnet to buck the trend?

TheLeadbetterLife · 02/02/2023 11:09

Although if they think a womb is necessary for use of a vibrator, maybe they don't know how babies are made.

What about describing women as people with wombs and vulva owners?

Bignanny30 · 02/02/2023 11:10

I’m no prude believe me but I totally agree.

SwedishEdith · 02/02/2023 11:12

FKATondelayo · 02/02/2023 10:34

I find it odd that the Sex chat (which is often a source of good advice and support as well as being user driven) is hidden away and not allowed on the front page but vibrator companies can pay to plaster their product all over Active Convos.

The taboo of mothers having sex? Never happened. For a start mothers are the only people with stone cold evidence of their sex lives. Everyone else's is purely anecdotal.

The Sex chat isn't hidden away now. Presumably, this is now why.

Sex toys should be normalised!!

Totally disagree. And if the site took on this approach then it is not for me.
