@mnhq - seriously, why is the site so unusable?!

last two weeks or so, pages constantly refreshing, bloody slow to load when they’re not refreshing every 5 mins, glitchy and clunky to scroll down… what’s happened??

Yes, I’ve cleared my cookies etc. yes, I’ve logged out. (I mean, I get frequently logged out without wanting to me, but that’s yet another issue..)

I've just seen in the other thread on site stuff about having to change to pages. Realised that’s probably what the issue is.

I don’t want to move to pages viewing. It’s clunky and loses the rhythm. I like viewing all 1000 posts in one long stream. I’ve read MN that way for 10 years

I’m the same - the constant refreshing on longer threads is driving me mad. I also don’t want to go back to pages I prefer to read all.

Afternoon, everyone. We do hear you about the pages. We know it's easier to just scroll and scroll through a thread. Unfortunately, at the moment, reducing your posts per page does seem to be the most successful way to solve the slowness and glitching. You can always experiment a bit with it. You might find it works ok at 100 posts per page, for example, so you could always see how that goes and then reduce it to 50 if it's not improving things.

But that’s just a way of making everyone finally remove their “see all pages”, and then you can just say as no one is using that facility you’ll just get rid of it?

Oh, glad this has been mentioned, I thought it was just me! Lost patience trying to get to the bottom of the same long thread. I've even switched my phone on & off again just in case.

This is rubbish MN. It's been going on since the upgrade. I'm on 100 posts per page and it still keeps crashing, glitching and freezing. This upgrade has been a downgrade for most of us but, as on the other thread, nothing seems to be being done about it except 'try 25 posts' which is just a pain and no one wants to. It used to work fine. I suspect it's to do with ad revenue... (More pages you have to go to, more ads you see..)
