Bolding function not functioning, no asterisks posting

Tried to bold a poster's name using the asterisk method, and again using the bold button - neither worked, and when I tried to post an asterisk in a post, it didn't appear. So weird, and by the looks of the thread I was on, at least one other poster has had this problem in the last little while.

This isn't a problem with the @ mentioning. It's a complete failure of asterisks to work as formatting and to post, and a complete failure of bolding, even though I can see the asterisks in the message window and also the bolded word/name before I hit post.

Windows, PC..

Similarly the italic function hasn't been working for weeks (app, iPhone). As with OP, selecting the function or using the ^ symbol, neither works.

Other text functions working fine though.

That is weird because I saw someone use bold. It works fine for me. Italics also work.

I'm using the mobile site. Are you using the app?

Ah yes, the strikethrough hasn’t worked on the phone mobile site in forever. I’d given up using it TBH.

I think the strike through is an iPhone problem rather than Mumsnet. iPhone automatically change the 2 - to a longer dash. You can change that in settings.

@Swissnotswiss Can we ask if you're on the site or the app and which device and browser you're using?

Tested italics again & not working on iPhone (app)

It might be fixed if I reinstall app - often helps.

@EarringsandLipstick are you using the Text style function under the message box? (white square, capital T; between the smiley emoji and the paper clip).

That works on iPhone, dashes and asterisks don't on iPhone 11.

I'll look for a Mozilla update, just in case that's the problem.
