Repeated errors on long threads

For the past week or so any time I open a lengthy thread (safari, all replies on one page-as always) the page opens to where I’ve booked marked and then crashes after I’ve read one or two posts.

It means that I can’t access threads I’m a regular contributor to.

I’ve been a daily (multiple times a day actually 😬) user for the past 12 years and it’s infuriating that the site has become less and less user friendly. Based on how few new posts there are in active these days I imagine others have the same view. It’s such a shame as there are still pockets of great, funny and intelligent women and I’d love to be able to read what they have to say!

It reloads once, then tries again and I get this:

Yup. I get this too. I had it ages ago and MN basically blamed by phone/device .. which it
obviously wasn’t because it doesn’t happen on any other site 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’ve reduced “see all replies per page” to “see 100 replies per page” and it seems to have helped reduce the number of errors and incredibly slow loading times.

Thanks, same as you it’s definitely not the device as it doesn’t happen elsewhere.

I’ll be much less likely to spend as much time here if I have to change the number of replies I can see. It’s one of the things I’ve always liked most about Mumsnet. There’s a bit of an air of not really giving a shit that the site is very glitchy and not as good as it used to be, which is a real shame.

Hi @Blondbombsite it's definitely us! We're aware of the issue with long threads crashing and a fix is in the pipeline. In the meantime, we're finding that viewing 25 posts per page seems to work (but admittedly this is an annoying work around). You might want to try 50 or 100 and see if that makes a difference. Sorry for the annoyance - we're working to get this sorted as a priority.

It's massively annoying. Seeing less posts per page is a horrible work around, especially considering half the page will be taken up with the bloody footers at the bottom of each post 😒
