Linking YouTube Videos

Apologies if I'm slow on the uptake, and this has changed ages ago, but can you no longer link a video inline? I used to often post something like

"Here's a video of a basic foxtrot."

with the word video being the link.

Now it doesn't seem to work. I'll do a couple of posts working out exactly what's happening.

Old style.

Here's a of a basic foxtrot.

Separate link underneath (typing 'link' as my word in the square brackets).

Here's a video of a basic foxtrot.

I thought for a while my first attempt (an inline link) would appear like option 2 did with the video underneath, but with 'video' as a link. But perhaps I'm wrong.

So just to be sure, there's no point in using brackets when posting YouTube links?

Any words in the square brackets just vanish?

Or more accurately, are just ignored? I don't really mind, I just haven't quite worked out the best way to do it. Grin

I used the \link + curly brackets way for ages!

Hi OP

Thanks for raising this - and for the examples! We're just checking a couple of things and will get back to you about this.

Hi OP

If you want the word 'video' to be a link, then you can make it a hyperlink using the tool on the editor. Then just enter the text and the link or highlight the word you want to link and click that button to add the URL in. Do you want the hyperlink as well as the embedded video?
